In general, we would consider using phosphatidylserine for the following:

IsoPhos®, Thorne Research
(Phosphatidylserine)

Ingredients:
(each capsule contains)

Phosphatidylserine isolate 100 mg

Discussion:

Phosphatidylserine occurs as a normal component of cell membranes. It is the major phospholipid in the brain. Phosphatidylserine enhances cell membrane fluidity, which improves cellular metabolism. This will improve neuronal communication, and strengthen memory and learning. One over- all effect is that the individual will feel a sense of well-being and peacefulness.

Oral supplementation of phosphatidylserine has been shown to increase memory and learning, and has positive effects on the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin, and dopamine-depressed patients. Phosphatidylserine has been shown to help establish normal down-regulation of cortisol secretion in chronically stressed individuals. In this regard, it functions similar to l-deprenyl (a pharmaceutical) and may have some use in hyperadrenocorticism, as well as in geriatric senility.

Phosphatidylserine comes from lecithin.

We understand that there are numerous causes for behavioral problems and many will not respond to phosphatidylserine. We generally recommend a phone consult with us, as well as an appointment with a local holistic veterinarian and a traditional veterinary examination - including diagnostic tests - with your local veterinarian.

In general, we would consider using phosphatidylserine for the following:
