Rationale:
This formula is intended to help birds with feather grooming abnormalities (feather pluckers, feather chewers, feather shearers) regrow feathers.
The formula is directed in several ways to assist feather growth. The formula is not intended to sedate a bird or alter its behavior hormonally. It can alter abnormal feather grooming by assisting normal feather growth and providing the building blocks for healthy skin and feather follicles. This could reduce itching and pain, making the bird less likely to groom its feathers too roughly or excessively.
One, all the essential proteins needed for feather growth are included. Two, small but effective amounts of vitamins and minerals required for a health metabolic system are included. Third, the immune system is addressed by the use of colostrum, which provides a number of factors needed for immune function. Finally, a number of herbs are included that treat infections, help clear parasites, and help heal the skin.
Fructose and vanilla flavoring are added to enhance the taste, allowing for increased palatability.
Dosage:
1/16 tsp twice once or twice daily mixed into soft foods for each 250 grams body weight
